Eminem Says Rapping About Mental Health, Addiction Struggles Has Been ‘Therapeutic’

Eminem he has never been shy about exposing his personal struggles in his songs. But on a call to Sway Calloway’s swing in the morning program this week at Em’s SiriusXM On channel Shade 45, the MC revealed that writing rhymes that address his mental health and his struggle with addictions has been “therapeutic.”

“I think one of the great things about rap music is that you can put so much of your life into it,” Eminem said during a phone call to the channel. After dropping that deep thought, Marshall paused for a few seconds and Sway and the morning crew roared with laughter as the host said, “Oh, that’s it, okay?”

Em also chuckled, explaining that she was trying to think of a way to amplify her revelation, “but [I] like he got lost.” He then picked up the train of thought again and added, “He’s therapeutic, and that’s how it’s always been for me.”

Giving some shine to the new Westside Boogie release from Shady Records, More black superheroes, Eminem said that, “the title…everything is great. And it’s like seeing him keep getting better and better and better is amazing too. And he has so much of his life woven into this album. You know what I’m talking? I think it’s therapeutic.”
