Former Rumson Hoops Standout Leading An Effort To Help Athletes With Another Challenge

Basketball fans will remember Teddy Sourlis as a standout shooting guard at Rumson-Fair Haven. Best known for his ability to shoot 3-pointers, the 2018 graduate went on to play at Babson College, where injuries and the pandemic greatly affected his career. However, he was there during quarantine as a follow-up to a class project that created MEN’S X MENTAL, INC. Using his own experience with anxiety and depression and seeing levels increased during the pandemic, Teddy’s goal is to make sure no one feels alone.

A non-profit (501c3) organization, MEN’S X MENTAL, INC. strives to break down the barriers and stigma surrounding the mental health of male athletes and all their survivors.

They have created a clothing line and you will hear much more about them in the future. For now you can get more information by visiting www.mensxmental.org.

If you’re a fan of high school basketball, on Saturday you can watch some of New Jersey’s best players take part in the inaugural Men’s X Mental Showcase at The Fort Athletic Club in Oceanport. Players from Roselle Catholic, Hudson Catholic, Newark Eastside, Red Bank Regional, Rumson, CBA, Jackson Memorial, Middletown North and Washington DC’s mighty DeMatha Catholic will participate in games beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.
