Pennsylvania State Health has announced that it is exploring the possibility of new locations for Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s inpatient and outpatient services.

The lease for the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s current location at 2501 N. Third St. in Harrisburg will expire on May 31, 2026. Because of that, Penn State Health said it must consider other site options for the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute to ensure continuity of services for its patients. Work on a new site should begin in late summer of this year, Penn State Health officials said.

Possible options for new sites include renovating space in Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in East Pennsboro Township and identify a new site for the hospital. Penn State Health is also seeking space for the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s outpatient psychiatric, behavioral health and addiction services.
