Girl With Mental Problem ‘raped’ | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: Dakha police booked a person for allegedly raping a girl who had allegedly run away from the children’s home. The girl could be suffering from a mental health problem.
Sarpanch, from one village, told police that at 7 a.m. on April 18, he learned of a homeless girl walking down the street. He said that the girl seemed to have some mental problem. When she was asked, the girl said her name. In the presence of prominent people of the town, he took the girl to her house and learned that she had run away from the children’s home. It was evident from her condition that she had been raped, after which she reported it to the police.
Police said the girl was handed over to SI Kirandeep Kaurin charge of Sudhar police station. Based on the complaint filed by the sarpanch, the police registered a case under Section 376 (Rape) of the IPC. The identity of the accused is still unknown.
Police said a medical examination of the girl is being carried out and further action will be taken after receiving the report.
