Govt guidelines violated; majority of pvt schools without student counsellors

However, it has been revealed that most schools have not hired counselors for students, raising questions about school management to ensure the mental well-being of students.

speaking to Great KashmirKashmir School Education Director Tasaduq Hussain Mir acknowledged that drug abuse was increasing at an alarming rate, but said the department had trained health counselors in schools.

“We have 10 counselors in each district. In addition, we also have a proper advisory cell in the leadership,” he said.

However, Mir said that some top-tier private schools have already started working on it and have hired a counselor for the mental well-being of students.
