Elite Daily: What is your personal care routine like?

Hailee Steinfeld: For me, self-care depends on my work situation at the time. It is constantly evolving and adapting to whatever you need. I think something very important for me is to stay hydrated.

Exercise is definitely number two. It’s not always what I want to do when I wake up first thing in the morning or after a long day at work, but there’s no way to describe how amazing I feel afterwards. I also love being outdoors, because being in nature is a huge thing for me. Spending time with my dog and family, listening to music… My self-care routine is always changing.

ED: You said music. What’s currently on your Spotify playlist?

SA: You know what, I’m going to pick him up and tell you. OK, the Beyoncé album, obviously. I’m patiently, actually, that’s a lie, impatiently waiting for Rihanna’s new music, so I’ve been listening to the two songs she has on repeat. Tame Impala. The Beach Boys are always an option for me.

ED: That’s great. What about habits? What are your favorite ways to start the day?

SA: Not looking at my phone first thing in the morning. I drink a full glass of water, do my little morning skin routine, and start my day. But one thing I’ve been doing a lot lately is taking my dogs out in the morning and putting my phone down. I take it as a few minutes to myself to start my day before I get consumed by work and everything else in the world. Taking a few minutes outdoors with a few deep breaths, a couple of affirmations, you know what I’m saying?

ED: That’s very smart, leaving your phone behind.

SA: Yuck. It’s crazy what she does, even for 10 minutes. And by the way, I’ll still go and catch up with it, I think it’s in me and it’s like, it’s been 10 minutes. So, I’m definitely making a bigger effort to put it behind me when I can.

ED: I’m going to steal that trick. Okay, what’s your current nightly routine like?

SA: It’s pretty simple. I always find that I am most likely cleaning up a mess that I made at some point in the day that I have to do before I go to sleep. Then, I take care of my dogs, groom them, put them to bed, and then do my nightly skin routine, which is really simple. It consists of a few steps.

Small doses of self-care daily can do wonders for your overall mental health

I read or write for at least 20-25 minutes and then go to bed. I used to watch youtube videos, tv or a movie and found that it kept me awake. I can’t start a movie and not finish it, so I can’t relax like that. I have to be fully present.

ED: I tend to watch movies and then stay up all night.

SA: Yeah, and then I lie in bed thinking about it. So, I feel like I need to talk to someone about it, depending on what it is.

ED: What do you do that really relaxes you and helps you relax?

SA: I love to take a bath. It is a great way to relax and unwind. Also listening to music, some guided meditations, and I know I keep saying that but it’s true, putting my phone away. It almost forces me to be with myself and my own thoughts, and really relax and make an effort to take a deep breath and just tune out.

ED: Now that you’re in the MCU, how did your self-care or exercise routine change when you prepared to play Kate Bishop in Hawk Eye?

SA: The exercise routine became more intense, so the self-care routine became much more specific. It could be said that the amount of time she spent training, the recovery time was doubled. I think the mindset I got into was, I want to be able to go back to the gym tomorrow and feel good, so coming out of an intense workout meant taking that epsom salt bath, icing, and just doing all the therapies that made it easier to come back. there the next morning.

ED: How does your personal care routine change when you travel?

SA: I try to keep my routine when I travel. I think it’s very easy to lose track depending on how intense the ride is. If we’re talking about different time zones, I do my best to maintain and sometimes even double the self-care routine, and really make sure to take care of myself, stay hydrated, and monitor myself.

ED: Your association with Core Hydration is all about stability, which can also be applied to juggling your musical and acting careers. What are some ways you ensure a work-life balance and set boundaries?

SA: First of all, I have an amazing team of people who help me do both my acting and my music, and everything else simultaneously, because there’s no denying that sometimes it’s definitely a challenge.

What I like best about my association with Core Hydration is that it has really served as a perfect reminder that it is very important to make a conscious effort to maintain balance in all aspects of life. For me, things get so hectic and crazy that I forget I haven’t taken a moment for myself or taken any time off, and it can take months before I realize that’s the case. So for me, it’s just a matter of being fully aware within myself about how I’m feeling, because I’m the only one who knows that deep down. Taking time for myself and constantly checking on myself.
