Drumstick curry recipe in Indian style
Ingredients
FOR SPICE PASTE:
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp dry coconut
- 2 tsp poppy seeds
- water (to grind)
FOR CURRY:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- pinch asafoetida
- some curry leaves
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 20 pieces drumstick
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
Instructions
- First, add 2 tbsp peanuts to a pan and roast until the peanuts are crisp.
- Now add 2 tbsp sesame seeds, 2 tbsp dry coconut, 2 tbsp poppy seeds.
- Fry the spices till they are fragrant.
- Cool completely and blend into fine powder without adding water.
- Now add 1/2 cup water and blend in smooth paste. put aside.
HOW TO MAKE ANDHRA STYLE MULAKKADA (Drumstick) CURRY:
- First, heat 2 tbsp oil in a large pan. add 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin seeds, pinch of asafoetida and some curry leaves.
- Add 1 onion, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and saute until onion changes colour.
- Keeping the flame low further, add 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp garam masala and 1 tsp salt.
- Saute until the spices are fragrant.
- Also, add 2 tomatoes and soften until the tomato is soft and separated from the oil.
- Add the prepared masala paste and cook well.
- Cook until the oil is separated from the masala paste.
- Now add 20 pieces of drumstick and mix well.
- Add 1 cup of water and combine consistency.
- Cover for 15 minutes or cook until drumstick absorbs flavour.
- To prevent burning, stir in the middle and cook until the oil separates.
- Finally, add 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well. Enjoy drumstick curry with roti or rice.
Side effects of Drumstick
Although Drumstick leaves, seeds, pods, flowers are completely safe for consumption, large amounts of pods and seeds can display some side effects.
The extract of the root and root of moringa is unsafe when taken from the mouth as the root contains spirochin, a poisonous substance.
Eating large amounts of Drumsticks can lower blood pressure and slow down heart rate due to the abundance of alkaloids.
Consumption of Drumsticks bark can lead to contraction in the uterus.
