The scorching heat continues in many states of the country including Delhi. Due to this heat, people are in bad condition. Every day the mercury is reaching a new height. Along with this, the diseases occurring in summer have also knocked. With the increasing heat, the series of diseases has started. In the months of May and June, the heat reaches its peak and it becomes difficult to escape from the grip of heat wave. Apart from sun and heat in summer, many people also fall ill due to dirt and wrong eating habits. Sunstroke or heat stroke is such a condition, if not treated immediately, a person can die. By taking some precautions, one can avoid the havoc of this season.
Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Director of Internal Medicine at Fortis Hospital, has given some tips to avoid the outbreak of this summer, let us know about them.
1. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight
Avoid coming in direct contact with the sun to avoid the ongoing heat wave in the country. Try not to leave the house between 12 noon and 3 pm.
2. Avoid Sun exposure
At first, avoid going out in the sun, but if it is necessary to go out during the day, then use sunscreen. Also, to avoid tanning and sunburn, take an umbrella, cap and cool water with you.
3. Take care of food hygiene
Avoid fried food outside and any food made in the open, because cleanliness needs a lot of attention in this season. Contaminated food and drink should be avoided in such weather.
4. Consume more liquid things
Use liquid diet as much as possible. Like lemonade, sugarcane juice etc. Pay attention to this thing that it should be cold and not icy, because if it happens then other health problems can occur. In this summer season fruits like melon, watermelon, mango, cucumber must be eaten. Note that there should be no shortage of water in the body.
5. Avoid eating too much at one go
Avoid eating more food in summer. Better than this you can start your day with sweet and juicy fruits. In which chiku, melon and orange are a good option. Do eat onion and cucumber as a salad because sufficient amount of water is found in it, which controls the body temperature.
6. Wear comfortable clothes
If you go out in summer, do not wear too dark colored and tight clothes. This causes more sweating. Dark colored clothes feel more hot. It is better that you wear loose-fitting and cotton clothes. Sky blue, white, off white, light pink etc. colors would be best to wear these days, because they do not feel much heat.
7. Don’t eat spicy food
Avoid eating too much oily and spicy food in summer. Also, do not consume the food items available on the street carts, as this can also lead to food poisoning. This is because the food kept for a long time spoils quickly. Neither hygiene is taken care of outside nor fresh food is available. To avoid heat stroke, eat homemade fresh food, as well as include plenty of seasonal vegetables and fruits in the diet.
