Hugh Hefner’s widow Crystal working with a brain disorder specialist to recover from ‘past traumas’

Hugh Hefner’s widow Crystal Hefner is working with a brain disorders specialist to recover from “past trauma” as she shares a glimpse of her mental health journey on Instagram.

The 35-year-old former Playboy Playmate revealed that she was seeking the help of Dr. Daniel Amen in Costa Mesa, California, who specializes in deep brain imaging to uncover previously undetected psychiatric issues and trauma.

Crystal has been on an extensive healing journey lately that began when she had her breast implants removed in November 2016 following health issues and a 2020 fat transfer that nearly killed her during the procedure.

“So happy to have found the last puzzle piece in my healing journey,” she wrote on social media. “I had never known of the existence of a doctor like Doctor Daniel Amen until the beauty of social networks led me to him. Thank you Doctor.

‘I highly recommend if you are mentally challenged to dig deeper and find out what is going on because there are so many ways to help yourself get better and feel better. Even starting with small changes helps.

She added: “I’ve been really stuck in my mind for so long that it’s nice to know there are ways to heal.” It also helps validate that my past traumas are real and have affected my brain.’

Crystal shared some images of her brain scans compared to a ‘healthy’ brain with colorful images showing the brain and its functions.

“I look forward to further optimizing my health and getting better,” he wrote. The penultimate photo is a healthy scan compared to mine. It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but it is areas that make sense of how I’ve been feeling and areas that can be improved.

‘I hope to scan again soon to see the improvement. Sometimes my mind tortures me and makes things really difficult, but I am fully ready to flip the script.

Crystal previously had her 34D breast implants removed in 2016, after claiming they caused a host of health problems.

In a lengthy Instagram post, she said: ‘My breast implants slowly poisoned me. Food and beverage intolerance, unexplained back pain, constant neck and shoulder pain, cognitive dysfunction (brain fog, memory loss), delayed hair growth, disabling fatigue, burning bladder pain, low immunity, recurrent infections, and problems with my thyroid and adrenal glands.

“The mildest of those symptoms started a few years ago. Aches, bladder pain, brain fog, fatigue. I ignored him, labeling myself a hypochondriac, even though I genuinely worried that something was wrong with me.

In January 2021, Crystal also revealed that she nearly died while undergoing a fat transfer three months earlier.

Writing on Instagram, he said: ‘I had fat transfer surgery on the 16th of October and almost didn’t make it. I lost half the blood in my body and ended up in the hospital needing a blood transfusion.

“I’ve been eating slowly to get healthy ever since and now I finally feel good.” I have advocated going natural ever since I got seriously ill and had my implants and everything else toxic in my body removed in 2016.

I should have learned the lesson the first time, but I guess the universe keeps sending you the same lesson until you learn it.

Crystal was married to the Playboy mogul from 2012 until her death at the age of 91 in 2017.

They started dating in 2009 and in December of that year she was the magazine’s Playmate of the Month.

She has since found love again in the arms of Ryan Malaty, who starred in MTV’s Are You The One, and the pair have been dating since last summer.
