‘I Lost And Kept Off 100 Pounds With WW And Regula Jazzercise And HIIT’

My name is gray tuesday (@four_mouseketeers), and I am 31 years old. I live in San Diego, California and am a new trainer for WW (formerly Weight Watchers). Being diagnosed with gallbladder disease and gallstones was a turning point for me. I started changing my diet with WW and doing Jazzercise. These changes helped me lose and keep the 100 pounds off.

I was medically overweight or obese all my life. When I got pregnant with my first girl, I gained 40 more pounds. Two years later, I was pregnant with my second baby and had never lost any of the weight from the previous baby. When my second daughter was born, she was heavier than ever and had health problems because of the way she ate. At 24, the scale had hit 256 pounds.

Shortly after having my second daughter, I started having extreme pain after eating. It slowly increased until one day the pain was so bad that my husband called an ambulance. It was determined that he had gallstones and gallbladder disease. The ER did little to nothing to talk to me about how my nutrition played a big part in this, and how if I didn’t change things would get a whole lot worse. So I left the hospital on pain meds and I wasn’t ready to change.

I sent myself back to the ER several times in pain from passing out because I still wasn’t ready to change. I refused surgery. It got so bad that the pain came even after drinking water.

I finally had my gallbladder removed and they said it was the worst gallbladder they had seen in a long time. It was infected and impacted with stones. At that time, he had not been able to eat without pain for several months and had lost about 20 pounds.

A young mother of two impressionable girls, she had no confidence, no sense of Self esteem, and I always felt like I was preaching “do as I say, not as I do.” She deserved to be the best version of me and my family deserved to have her too!

My life changed on February 25, 2019. I ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time and she looked amazing.

He was glowing with confidence and seemed so happy. She told me that she had been doing www, and walked into my local studio later that night. I was so inspired, and I said to myself, That is all. I am ready to be the best possible version of myself, for myself and for no one else.

And the rest is history! I knew it was the right thing for me because I needed the freedom to continue enjoying the foods I love. I knew that a restrictive diet was not going to work for me. I get bored easily and I needed to know that I had more options than just chicken and vegetables every day.

This is what I eat in a day.

  • Breakfast: Protein iced coffee. I use espresso over ice with half a protein shake (I usually like to use Alani Nu fit or Premier Protein shakes), followed by a variation of eggs such as egg white, ham and vegetable omelet; homemade breakfast sandwich; or my personal favorite: breakfast tacos!
  • Lunch: I usually keep my lunches pretty simple. A veggie-packed turkey sandwich with a side of fruit. Or a blackened chicken wrap made with a low carb tortilla and some Bolthouse Farms ranch dressing paired with some raw veggies.
  • Appetizers: Fresh fruits and vegetables. Watermelon, peas, and pickles are my favorites! Light string cheese, pretzels, protein bars, edamame, hummus with veggies, Fiber One bars. My absolute favorite snack is white cheddar relish popcorn!
  • Dinner: The reason this plan works for me is because I have the flexibility to change my meals. I am constantly learning and looking for new dinner recipes to keep me interested. Some of my favorite dinners at the beginning of my trip were: two-ingredient crust pizzas, pickled chicken (mock Chick-Fil-A), and salsa chicken tacos made with crispy shells in the oven. Currently, we’ve been eating lots of bowls of fried teriyaki salmon with brown rice and broccoli, lentil soft tacos, and grilled Hawaiian chicken sandwiches. I always serve each dinner with a different type of vegetable.
  • Dessert: Enlighted brand cookie dough ice cream bars, homemade pizookies made with chocolate chip muffin mix and light vanilla ice cream, or warm homemade banana bread made with Lakanto monk fruit sugar replacement.

In fact, I didn’t start exercising until I reached my goal weight, I just wasn’t mentally prepared.

When I finally felt ready, I started going to Jazzercise with my mom! As soon as I got into a great workout routine, the world shut down due to COVID. However, I continued to do Jazzercise virtually and eventually switched to strength training at home.

Currently, I train from home using the FitOn app doing a combination of HIIT Y strength training four times a week for 30-60 minutes each workout.

    1. I put myself first. I have completely changed my mindset. I went from having no confidence in myself to being my biggest cheerleader. I put my goals first. I am aware of everything I do while I do it. The reason I was so successful this time was because I was doing it for myself: I believed I could and I did.
    2. I embraced planning. Planning sets me up for success! Every Sunday I still sit down and plan all my dinners for the week with my shopping list. I even track meals ahead of time, so I know how many points I have to work with before dinner. If we’re eating out (we eat out a lot as a family), I plan ahead! I check to see if the restaurant is on the WW app and plan what I’ll order before I arrive. I’m not afraid to bring my own items to the restaurant. My husband is always amused when I pull my own bandage out of my bag!
    3. My fridge is always full. I am always prepared. I stock my fridge and pantry with foods that I know will fuel and fill my body. I try not to let myself get too hungry, but I’m a busy mom and sometimes I don’t listen to my hunger cues and before I know it I’m starving. Having items on hand that I know fit into my budget helps me not binge.

My journey has taught me how incredibly strong I am. I didn’t know before. Lose weight It’s hard, but so is being obese. I lost 100 pounds, but have gained much more. I know my worth and I have a lot of confidence in myself. I finally feel like the role model I needed to be for my daughters, who are 6 and 9 years old. They know it’s not about how we look, but how we feel. We can do hard things!
