Tostadas are one of those dishes that can be thrown together quickly, with ample room for healthy culinary improvisation. And while eating a loaf of sourdough at home it is not negotiable, I also diversify my bread consumption with different types of delicious whole grain options.
My favorite morning toast is covered in dark chocolate (yes, chocolate), a proven combination full of cocoa antioxidantsfiber, essential vitamins and minerals, such as zinc and magnesium.
To make it, pop a slice of your favorite bread into the toaster oven and top it with a couple of dark chocolate squares (I recommend looking for a high-quality one, ethical chocolate option with 70% cocoa or higher). Make sure to keep an eye on your toast: you want the chocolate to melt, not burn. Once it’s out of the oven, finish your toast with your creative toppings of choice. My favorites include sea salt, sliced almonds, chopped dried apricots, or fresh berries.
