According to nutritionist Signe Svanfeldt from sum of life there are some frozen foods that you should skip in the grocery order.

Speaking to The Sun, the guru reasoned that items from the coldest aisles of the Supermarket It can be great for our health.

Signe explained: “There are many great options packed with nutrients and dietary fiber, including frozen whole grain bread, vegetables, fruits and berries.

“However, there are also some frozen foods that are quite low in nutrients and high in sodium, saturated fat and added sugar.

“We should aim to eat these in lower amounts, as high consumption of these foods has been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.”

But what are the worst offenders?

1. Pizza

Pizzas are fine as a treat, but many of the frozen ones have thicker crusts and are often topped with processed meat.

“They are high in sodium and saturated fat, which if consumed in excessive amounts are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity,” Signe said.

Cakes are a delicious breakfast food and go perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee.

But Signe said these are often high in saturated fat.

“This increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and added sugar, which could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity,” he added.

While they can be delicious, fried foods, especially those that are frozen with added preservatives, are high in saturated fat and sodium.

Signe added that if you want to find foods that are higher in nutrients and lower in sodium, added sugar and saturated fat, be sure to always check the nutrition label and find options with fewer of these.

“That said, no food or nutrient is so unhealthy that you have to completely exclude them from your diet, it’s about having a balanced and varied diet according to your energy requirement,” he added.
