Important for players to take a rest for mental health, proclaims Shikhar Dhawan on India’s rotation policy

Shikhar Dhawan has backed BCCI’s decision to rotate players stating that cricketers, especially those playing in different formats, often need to take a break to manage their workload. BCCI has been under fire for a while after laying off prolific stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Whenever the India team fails to produce a fruitful result, questions are raised about the Board of Control of Cricket in India ( BCCI) and their decisions. Considering a country of 1.4 billion people who love cricket, that’s of course no surprise. But then, a team cannot achieve win after win, it is almost impossible.

India’s last T20 World Cup campaign was terrible in the United Arab Emirates. In fact, they didn’t even manage to qualify for the semi-finals. Hence, the expectation around them is greater in the next edition, scheduled for October in Australia. However, BCCI’s decision to rest its first-team players, including rohit sharma, Virat Kohli Y Jasprit Bumrah has raised raised eyebrows from many pundits and former players. As per his thoughts, players can only perform better if they get the opportunity on a regular basis and by making too many changes, India will struggle to find their best line-up in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
