The study is the first to map an estimate of lost work years associated with mental disorders. When looking at the data of all people between the ages of 18 and 65 registered in Denmark Over a period of 22 years, researchers at Aarhus University have been able to shed light on some of the consequences faced by people diagnosed with a mental disorder. The study, published in The Lance, followed a total of 5,163,321 people in Denmark, 488,775 of whom were diagnosed with a mental disorder. The researchers found that all of those diagnosed mental disorders are associated with a substantial loss of working life.
