Cancer Symptoms In Women: Cancer is a deadly disease. The main reason for its being dangerous is that it can be identified only in the last stage. In this stage, cancer has spread all over the body. Doctors themselves say that if cancer has the highest chances of being cured, then it is in the first stage itself. If cancer is in the last stage then it is difficult to cure it. But some cases really surprise the medical world. Now such a new case has been seen. A woman in the last stage of a serious type of cancer has also been cured.
Treatment done in Mohali, Punjab
According to media reports, rare surgery was done on the woman in a private hospital in Mohali, Punjab. A 42-year-old woman was suffering from Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) cancer. This cancer was in the last stage. Doctors say that this type of cancer is rarely seen.

The team of doctors performed CRS (cytoreductive surgery) and HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) surgery on the patient. CRS HIPEC is considered as good surgery for PMP cancer. It is a combination of complex surgery and intra-abdominal chemotherapy to eliminate the abdominal tumour. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) involves removal of all affected cancer cells. While in HIPEC surgery, after complete CRS, chemotherapy is done in the abdomen inside the operation theatre.

After getting cancer, many types of symptoms started appearing in the patient. These included severe swelling in the patient’s abdomen, change in defecation, loss of appetite. Had surgery for possible ovarian cancer (uterus, both ovaries and appendix) three months back in another hospital. In fact, the diagnostic report revealed a mucinous tumor emanating from the appendix. Doctors were contacted when the condition did not improve. Medical examination and CT scan found a jelly-like substance in the stomach and tumor in the entire abdominal cavity. This was a sign of PMP cancer.

What is pseudomyxoma peritonei? Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a real tumor that grows slowly. It produces mucin (jelly-like substance) in the abdomen and pelvis. It is also known as Jelly Belly. PMP often occurs in the appendix. But it can also happen in other organs like the large intestine and ovaries.
