On Mental Health Day, ITC Fiama in collaboration with NielsenIQ released its second consecutive study on Mental Wellbeing. The survey, designed to determine the causes of stress with the changing lifestyle of young people in India, revealed that work is the biggest cause of stress for Millennials, while relationships and breakups are the main source of stress for Millennials. GenZ.

Decisions related to work and career are the undisputed first place in the factors that cause stress for Indians, with work aspects being the main cause of stress in 81% of millennials and 47% of GenZ. GenZ also seem to feel the pressure of career decisions more than millennials, while for millennials, work pressure and trying to balance their work and other aspects of life, workplace politics are the main factors that they cause stress. 57% of millennials say that negative mental health affects their performance in the workplace.
The Fiama Mental Well-being survey also reveals that the causes of stress for women are different from those of men: women tend to feel more stressed due to work than men with 71% saying they suffer from exhaustion to be up to social standards of success. and 72% feel that the Monday blues are real.

Relationship difficulties are the biggest source of stress for a staggering 87% of Gen Z, with 1 in 3 saying their mental well-being is greatly affected if they break up with their partner. Your mental health is significantly affected due to toxic relationships.
Women, a surprising 86%, also feel the pressure of a relationship more than men, with breakups, the pressure of maintaining the relationship with family or partner, being the main triggers of stress.

The survey highlights that GenZ tend to be more stressed about social media than millennials, with 39% citing social media as a top cause of stress. The findings also suggest that 66% of GenZ have taken a break from social media to balance their mental health.

It is interesting to note that despite the various causes of stress and increased anxiety, only 33% of Gen Z are willing to seek immediate professional help if they are experiencing mental health issues. Young adults are exploring alternatives to de-stress: 43% turn to music to calm their nerves. For millennials, yoga, meditation and spending time with loved ones become top options for calming down, while social media has become a leading de-stressor for housewives looking for content to help them de-stress .
