The National Medical Teachers Association of MSC had a special meeting with Health Minister JP Nadda. During the meeting, there was a special discussion with the medical teachers on many challenges including the rules of the ‘National Medical Commission’. NMMTA President Dr Arjun Maitra and Secretary Dr Ayan Das successfully completed 100 days in office.

The National MSc Medical Teachers Association (NMMTA) met with Health Minister JP Nadda and discussed the major challenges faced by medical teachers. Especially discussed in relation to the National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations. NMMTA President Dr Arjun Maitra and Secretary Dr Ayan Das participated in the meeting. In which the issues related to shortage of staff in medical colleges and the negative impact of NMC regulations on MSc and PhD trainers were specifically discussed. Focus on NMC political reforms
Dr Maitra and Dr Das stressed the need for changes in the NMC policies. In which the increasing reliance on legal intervention by teachers was seen as a barrier to improving medical education. He said many members of the association had to resort to costly and time-consuming legal interventions to deal with the challenges posed by these regulations.

During the meeting, the problems and difficulties arising out of the NMC rules were openly discussed. The NMMTA officials spoke openly about the discriminatory status of the MMC. It was also said that the association and its members had to undergo unnecessary, costly and lengthy legal interventions. Dr Arjun Maitra expressed confidence in the ability of the ministry to take impartial decisions in the public interest.
