Keke Palmer says ‘having so much responsibility at a young age’ led to ‘a lot of depression and anxiety’

Nope star is opening up about his mental health issues.

The 28-year-old former Nickelodeon actress, who began her career in the industry at age 10 with a role in Barber Shop 2: Back in Business this week about how he dealt with “a lot of depression and anxiety” early in his career. Palmer explained that these issues stemmed from “not being able to process my emotions” and “having so much responsibility at a young age.”

“I realized the power of positivity when I was battling depression at such a young age, even before I knew what I was battling,” he said. True Jackson, Vice President alum continued. “I thought, ‘Well, if I make others laugh, I feel good. That’s enough to get you through the day.’”

In addition to her openness about her mental health struggles, Palmer has shared her battle with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), which she says led to acne and unwanted body hair. “It’s a responsibility, and sometimes it can be stressful, and other times it can happen naturally.
