Kuthiravattam mental health centre superintendent suspended for lapses in duty

Thiruvananthapuram: Dr. KC Ramasan, superintendent of the state mental health center at Kuthiravattam in Kozhikode, has been suspended from duty for failing to perform his duties.

According to the order, he will be suspended from office starting June 2.

Health Minister Veena George ordered the health department to suspend the officer from the service after finding him negligent in carrying out his duties.

Previously, the minister had hinted to the director of the health department to submit an investigation report into the death of an inmate who fled the health center. The investigation found that there were failures on the part of the superintendent, and recommended that the government take action against him for the consecutive mishaps at the center.

As a result of this, the minister has ordered the superintendent to be suspended from service.
