Liverpool hire mental health consultant

Several Liverpool supporters expressed their approval at the news that the Reds have hired a mental health consultant to help the players.

Footballers may live enormously privileged lives, but they are still human beings who feel the stresses and strains of everyday life.

There is enormous scrutiny put into everything they do, both on and off the pitch, with their every move scrutinized and any step taken offline that could lead to vitriolic criticism.

Social networks can be particularly bad in terms of online abuse of gamers, with individuals getting horrible reviews after a bad performance or a bad result.

According to The Daily Mail [via Anfield Watch on Twitter]Liverpool have hired a specialist to help tackle mental health issues caused by social media abuse, in what has been hailed as a “major” move by the club.
