Jaques O’Neill from Love Island talks about his fight for mental health from the village.
This piece is presented by Blanchardstown Center.
Jacques O’Neill of Love Island feared that his mental health was deteriorating so much in the village that he would never recover.
The reality star left the show last week after clashing with Adam Collard over Paige Thorne.
In last night’s episode, Paige and Adam kissed for the first time, which Jacques had to watch before his appearance on ITV2’s Aftersun.
Jacques, revealed that he has ADHD and speaking with Mirror prior to her appearance on the show, she said that she “vastly underestimated” the effect the show would have on her mental health.
“The last two weeks were definitely the worst I’ve ever felt in my life,” he said.

“I found myself feeling worse and worse every day.
“And if I hadn’t left when I did, I was afraid I would never have returned to my normal self.”
Prior to the fallout, Jacques’ behavior was criticized, with the rugby league player receiving complaints from viewers to Ofcom accusing him of being misogynistic.
He admits that he has found it difficult to rewatch the scenes. “I have a lot of work to do to become a better person,” she says.
“I know my family came out and talked about my ADHD while I was in the village, but that’s no excuse for me.”
“Yes, I can find certain things much more difficult than others, but at the end of the day I need to take responsibility for my own actions and I will keep my hands up.
Speaking on Sunday’s spin-off series Aftersun, the 23-year-old rugby player, who left the village on Tuesday, said he felt he had “no more tears left to cry” after his emotional exit.
“The first thing I did when I got home was watch the episode with my mom, the last episode. I said to my mom, ‘Listen, I don’t have any more tears.’
“I had been so excited.”
“Time to work on myself for myself… I literally put it on and put on a brave face for my mom and I looked at her and we were like “offt”.
Speaking about Paige now hooking up with Adam, he told host Laura Whitmore on Aftersun: “She’s doing what she’s doing there, that’s what I told her and I screwed up at Home. I put my hands up.”
Jacques currently receives support from the ITV program as well as from the welfare team of his Castleford Tigers team.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
