Mental health can become a bigger threat than corona, know what the WHO report says


WHO Report On Mental Illness: Anxiety, depression are the most common mental health related diseases which are spreading rapidly all over the world. This disease is more in people from countries where income is normal or slightly less, but cases related to mental health are reported more in countries with high income. The reason behind this is that there is more awareness about this disease in developed countries, but there is not so much awareness among people of developing and low income countries. Corona has further increased depression and anxiety. The cases of metal health increased by 26 to 28% more in 1 year in the countries which had the highest number of corona cases.

  • According to a 2019 data, 13% of people all over the world are suffering from diseases related to mental health. This figure of 13% is about 1 billion.
  • Of this, 82% are in middle- or low-income countries where there are very few or poor health services for mental illness.
  • According to this report, more than 50% of women have depression and anxiety, while men have more cases of mental disorder. Development disorder is the most common mental illness in children.
  • Mental health-related diseases are also affecting the economy badly. $2.5 trillion is spent on mental illness, of which about $1 trillion is spent on depression and
  • Spent on Anxiety. According to the World Economic Forum, mental illnesses will cost at least $6 trillion by 2030.
