Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Minorities Sk. Amzath Basha said that all arrangements were being made to open the mental health care center at RIMS, Kadapa, by March next year.
Mr. Amzath Basha visited prominent psychiatrist and Director of Vijayawada Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (VIMHANS) Indla Ramasubba Reddy in hospital on Thursday.
He toured the hospital and inquired about the facilities available for mental health care.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Amzath Basha said that the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had laid stone for the construction of a mental health care institute at the RIMS Kadapa premises and that the works were proceeding at full speed. He said that Mr. Jagan extended the Aarogyasri scheme for patients facing mental health problems.
He said the new hospital will serve the needs of patients in the Rayalaseema region and Nellore and Prakasam districts. He thanked Dr. Indla for moving to Vijayawada from his native Kadapa and establishing the first mental hospital in the city 40 years ago.
