These problems can be caused by childhood abuse, social isolation, severe or prolonged stress, bereavement, domestic abuse, a neurological condition, or even drug and alcohol abuse.

They can have a long-term effect on people’s mental well-being, which can lead to suicide at some point in extreme cases.

Improving and maintaining your mental well-being helps prevent some mental health problems, and as a young person, self-awareness and self-care will keep you in check and lead to a healthy lifestyle.

A healthy state of mind can be achieved by building your self-esteem; frequently talking about their feelings; connect with friends and family; avoid drugs, alcohol, eat healthy and get enough sleep; peer support; make time for therapeutic activities and get professional help.
