Michael Mosley: ‘Stop eating’ by certain time and other tips to lose weight ‘fast’

Dr Michael Mosley He often shares his weight loss tips with slimmers online and on TV. He is the creator of the fast 800 – a diet plan that helps people lose weight quickly.

Dr. Mosley has previously shared one of the most common “myths” when it comes to dieting: that losing weight quickly means a dieter will gain it back faster.

The doctor explained, “In a recent review article titled ‘Obesity Myths, Assumptions and Facts’ in the prestigious medical journal The New England Journal of Medicine, researchers placed this statement firmly in the ‘myth’ category.

“After looking at numerous studies that compared rapid weight loss to slow and steady weight loss, they concluded that it would be better to lose weight quickly rather than slowly.”

So what are Dr. Mosley’s best tips for losing weight fast?

One tip is to “eat earlier,” according to Dr. Mosley.

He said: “Generally speaking, I encourage people to try eating dinner earlier, say 7pm to 7:30pm.

“Try to stop eating by 8 pm and then don’t eat anything with calories after that.”

That’s because “the fat and sugar you eat later in the evening stays in your system much, much longer because your body is shut down for the night.”

The doctor added: “Your digestive process will shut down and you won’t really appreciate that late-night snack.”

However, the “main thing” is to try to restrict alcohol and caffeine consumption late at night, according to Dr. Mosley, as both are likely to keep you up at night.

The nutrition expert said: “People use alcohol to fall asleep, but the reality is that it will lead to fragmented sleep and you will wake up much more during the night, which is very clear.

“A nice cup of chamomile tea or possibly a cup of ginger tea is probably your best bet at night.”

In addition to making sure they get a good night’s sleep, Dr. Mosley recommended that weight losers “fill their plate with protein” for weight loss.

He said: “It’s really important to have a decent amount of protein, which is 50 to 70 grams per day.

“You can get protein mainly from meat or fish, and you can also get it from legumes, but you have to eat a lot more, so following The Fast 800 on a vegetarian diet is more challenging.

“We have meal replacement shakes that are very high in protein, and we also aim to produce protein boosters to help people who might otherwise have problems.”

Dr. Mosley added: “The reason for protein is that you need it for your muscle.

“You need it for all kinds of essential metabolic processes.

“And also because when you consume it, your body digests it more slowly, so you don’t get the same kind of spikes.”

Another easy tip that Dr. Mosley recommended for weight losers is to “keep a healthy snack on the side.”

He continued: “The best way to prevent hunger when you’re intermittent fasting is to use something like a meal replacement shake.

“Follow The Fast 800 program because it has been carefully calibrated to ensure that it gives you the maximum nutrients and the maximum amount of fiber and protein.

The reason people are hungry is because they’ve eaten something that’s very high in sugar or carbohydrates, so they have a massive spike in their blood sugar levels and then they crash and then they’re hungry.”

Dr. Mosley advised eating something high in fiber, as this will reduce your appetite.

Personally, the doctor said that he would “find a small handful of nuts or something” if he was going to have a snack.

“And that really takes away the advantage,” he added.
