More than half of India’s population has problems in their eyes, know why this is happening?

The Government of India celebrates every 7th April as Prevention of Blindness Week to keep the eyes healthy and prevent blindness. This year’s theme is The Right to Sight. It simply means the right to see. The Government of India is currently running a campaign in which work is being done to spread awareness among people about eye diseases, infections. 

Reason for eye diseases in India

According to the news published in the Hindi portal of India TV, 1.99 percent of the people aged 50 and above in India are victims of blindness. Whereas 66.2 percent are victims of cataract. 8.2 percent corneal disease and iris related disease. 5.5 people are suffering from Glaucoma disease. In these diseases, the optic nerve at the back of the eye gets damaged. Because of which you can become a victim of blindness. Apart from this, most people become victims of diabetic retinopathy. In this disease, the nerve of the eye of diabetic patients gets damaged. Due to increasing age, many people mostly become victims of diseases. Such as macular degeneration, trachoma, uncorrected refractive error. Apart from all these, there is also a complaint of blindness due to hypotonia. 

What is the treatment for these eye diseases?

All types of eye problems The easiest way to avoid diseases is to prevent them in the first place. For this, first of all you have to avoid eye infection. Whenever a problem starts in the eye, get it treated in time. If you are a diabetic patient, always keep it under control. Apart from this, if there is any problem in the eyes like  cataract and glaucoma, then get it treated in time.

Every A person must get an eye checkup done once in every 3 months. Also include things rich in Vitamin A in your diet. Include more and more muesli fruits and vegetables in your diet. Minimize the use of computer and mobile and try to do exercise and yoga to increase eyesight.
