Nagpur man dies after taking Viagra pills: In a rare case, a 41-year-old Nagpur man died after taking two Viagra pills while drinking alcohol, according to a report by news.au.com, citing a study published in the Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine. The report claims the man was with a woman when he took two 50mg tablets of sildenafil, sold under the brand name Viagra. The man had no medical history, but he was consuming alcohol when he took those pills.

The next day, the man felt a bit of “restlessness” that he paid no attention to. He too was vomiting and his friend urged him to seek medical help. However, the man chose to ignore her suggestion citing that he too had experienced such problems in the past. Soon his condition worsened and he was then rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the study, the man died of a cerebrovascular hemorrhage, which is when the oxygen supply to the brain is reduced.

“A 41-year-old man with no significant medical or surgical history was staying in a hotel room with a friend; he had consumed 2 sildenafil tablets (50 mg each) and alcohol at night. The next morning, he developed malaise, so he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the study read.

Once the autopsy results came in, doctors found a 300g mass of clotted blood. They concluded that a mix of alcohol and medication, as well as pre-existing high blood pressure, led to his death.

The study authors said they published this rare case to raise awareness about the risks of taking erectile dysfunction drugs without medical advice.
