Name of Larimer County’s new behavioral health facility announced

A name has been chosen for the Larimer County Behavioral Health Center currently under construction in south Fort Collins, just north of Loveland: Longview Behavioral Health Services.

The name comes both from a nearby open space, Long View Farm, and from the building’s purpose in mental health and recovery, according to Jennifer Wolfe-Kimball, a communications specialist with Larimer County Behavioral Health Services.

“It really has a dual purpose and acknowledges the process of treatment and recovery,” Wolfe-Kimball said. “So it was a good mix of local inspiration and hopes for the facility and the role it will play in the community.”

The facility, which is expected to open in fall 2023, will house on-site mid- and long-term care, labs and pharmacies, 24/7 urgent care, withdrawal management and a bridging clinic. to ensure that patients have an effective treatment plan. before being discharged.

Its central location in the county allows it to effectively serve patients from across the county and region, Commissioner John Kefalas said, shortly before voting to approve the new name.

Doctors from SummitStone Partners, an organization that provides behavioral health services in the area and will operate the new 64-bed facility, previously said that many patients in Larimer County currently need to be transferred to Boulder or Denver, and that the new building will allow them to treat patients close to home.

The vote to officially adopt the new name, as well as to begin installing signage, took place Tuesday morning at the Board of County Commissioners and was accompanied by cookies bearing the site’s new logo, courtesy of Behavioral Health Services.
