The Liverpool native explained that he had a really hard time being unable to perform for over a year and that he often thought of music as his “therapy”.

Talking with him irish mirror Nathan explained: “A lot of my musician friends ended up drinking and smoking too much, they’re not used to not having anything to do.

“I was drinking more than ever, drinking on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and feeling like shit for days afterward.

“I’m not a wine drinker, so it wasn’t like I was drinking a bottle of wine every night, but it took a toll on me.

“I don’t have anything to get up for, no gigs, no interviews, so it’s like, ‘Let’s smash.’

“Music is a healer, so if you can do it, you should allow yourself to do what makes you feel good. I am sure that if you told people who regularly listen to music that they cannot listen to music for six months, it would affect their mental health.”

Nathan went on to say that he especially wants to encourage men to speak up about their mental health issues, as there is often a “stigma” that surrounds them.

He explained that his mind was in a “bad place” when he couldn’t perform, but thankfully after some therapy, he’s in a better place.

He added: “At the end of the day, if you’re feeling down, you should talk to people and not keep it.”

This comes after Nathan recently said he had a “big day” hanging out with his brother Jake while playing golf.

He recently took to Instagram to share a snap with Jake after spending the day together at Lough Erne Resort.

BROTHER’S DAY OUTING

He shared some videos of the couple playing golf on his Instagram stories and it seemed like the couple had a great day together.

Later, the singer posted a snapshot on his Instagram account of a photo of him and his brother.

In this snapshot, Nathan was wearing a gray top with black pants and a silver watch on his wrist.

Meanwhile, Jake was sporting a black sweater and they both had big smiles on their faces in the picture.

Nathan captioned this snap saying, “Great day golfing with little brother @jakecartermusic at @lougherneresort.”
