Nassau University Medical Center opened its newly remodeled mental health clinic on Tuesday.
The facility is located in the main body of the hospital and will offer services including individual and group therapy.
Previously, patients seeking mental health care had to visit a separate building on the NUMC campus.
Doctors told News 12 they believe this move will help reduce any stigma that comes with mental health.
NHCC Interim President Megan Ryan told News 12 the renovation cost $62,000, part of which was offset by donations, and now provides patients with elevator access, central air conditioning and enhanced security in the new facility.
