New Sydney gym has banned Millennials from working out

The owner of a chain of gyms for people born before 1970 has said he is facing backlash after barring young people from his fitness centers.

A new gym created by Chris Hemsworth’s exercise physiologist has opened in Sydney, but not everyone is welcome.

Jonathan Freeman owns Club Active, an Australian 50+ gym chain that has a blanket ban on Gen Xers born after 1970, Millennials and Gen Z from entering its training facilities.

His newest facility just opened on Castle Hill, which, unlike conventional gyms, he says, is a “safe space for Boomers.”

“Conventional gyms are certainly not designed to support this age group, nor are they overly welcoming, which often affects their motivation and ability to exercise comfortably and regularly,” Jonathan told news.com.au.

“The truth is that a traditional gym environment can often be intimidating for an aging population, so I set out to create a space that was welcoming, supportive, fun and catered specifically to their needs.

“Having parents in the Baby Boomer active space, it was important to me to make sure they could change the way they exercise, and that they have a space they feel comfortable doing it in.”

To achieve his goal of “reinventing retirement,” Jonathan faced “gym bullying” and made the decision to ban young gym-goers from his space.

“I wanted to create a space where the 50+ age group felt completely comfortable to exercise safely and at their own pace,” he said.

Club Active has seven gyms at locations in NSW and Queensland, all of which cater to those born before 1970.

Boomers on Facebook greeted the news with similar enthusiasm, with one declaring “this is my kind of gym.”

Jonathan was the trainer responsible for keeping actor Chris Hemsworth’s body in top condition during filming. Thor.

“The most important thing with Chris is to make sure that he was distributing the forces evenly to avoid unnecessary loads on the joints that were causing him pain,” he said.men’s health recently.
