The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has made an effort to formulate a long-term plan for the efficient operation of mental health care institutions in the country to guarantee their human rights.

It has embarked on an odyssey to obtain feedback from stakeholders, including human rights activists, institutionalists and experts in the field.

A delegation from the Commission, led by its Chairman, Judge Arun Mishra, will embark on a three-day visit to Jharkhand, which will include a visit to mental health care institutions in Ranchi, followed by a workshop on 17-18 August.

The Commission informed that the delegation will visit the Ranchi Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Allied Sciences, Kanke, (Ranchi), Jharkhand and the Central Institute of Psychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi to see first-hand the current condition of these mental health patients. care institutions.

In collaboration with the Government of Jharkhand, the Commission will organize a workshop on the issues and challenges facing the Ranchi Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Allied Sciences and the Central Institute of Psychiatry.

It also aims to raise awareness among different stakeholders about various aspects of mental health care. Participants will be a variety of stakeholders, including mental health care experts and senior government officials.

During its visit, the Commission will also hold a separate meeting with high-ranking State officials and discuss various aspects related to human rights and prompt reporting to the Commission in cases of human rights violations for the expeditious resolution of cases.

Prior to this, the Commission had visited and held workshops in respect of Mansik Arogyashala, Gwalior, on July 12-13, 12-13, and the Institute of Mental Health, Agra, on July 27-28.
