Sangarur: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandvia Visited on Sunday PGIMER Satellite Center to review its progress in the Punjab town, and said it would be operational by January next year.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of implementation of the project, the minister said, “With the pace at which work is progressing, including procurement of medical devices and equipment, the satellite center will be fully operational by January 2023 and will provide an important facility. Updating on the success of the ‘Free Precautionary Vaccination Campaign’ launched by the Prime Minister on July 15 for 75 days on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Union Minister said, “More than 13 crore people have already benefited from this facility by getting vaccinated under it. is. Initiative in one month and three days to date.”
He urged the people of Punjab and the country in general, especially the vulnerable population to get vaccinated in the balance of 75 days and equip themselves to face the disease. covid emergency
Appreciating the commendable role of the healthcare workers in curbing the Covid crisis, the minister said, “Our country has been appreciated worldwide for two things; for the Covid management following the guidelines and for the vaccination campaign crossing the mark of over 200 crore doses.”
Endorsing the need for ‘Affordable Health for All’, the Minister shared about the Government’s initiatives to promote generic medicines which include more than 8,500 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country which are visited by more than 20 lakh people every day, participating in the awareness campaign of National Medical with the Council and launched an app ‘Jan Aushadhi Sugam’ to make people aware of salt in medicines so that they can choose between generic and branded medicine.
He also shared that a Jan Aushadhi Kendra would also be opened at a satellite center in Sangrur.
Earlier, the Minister was given a warm welcome by Director PGIMER Vivek Lal, Deputy Director (Administration) Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, Medical Superintendent Vipin Kaushal etc.
A detailed presentation was made to the Minister in which he was informed that the satellite center with a 300-bed hospital was envisaged with an objective to decongest PGIMER in Chandigarh and reduce the travel time of patients.
Vivek Lal said that the satellite center project spread over 25 acres will cost Rs 449 crore. Phase 1 has already been implemented with the construction of a temporary OPD, a guest house and a boundary wall and the second phase of execution is being fast tracked.
Lal said that since October 2016 the temporary OPD has been functioning at the satellite center, so far 2,78,416 patients have been examined.
Later, the minister visited the makeshift OPD where he interacted with doctors, paramedics and patients and inquired about the facilities provided to the patients.
