“The dumbbells were a weight that forced me to push myself very hard, but all the events were difficult throughout the weekend. Six events in two days is a good amount of volume,” she explained.
Tournier, who is also a trainer at SaskPro, said one thing she often hears is how intimidated people are to start a fitness program.
“It really is the best gift you can give yourself. I feel much better at almost 50 than I did at 30 and I am certainly stronger,” she said.
MacPherson, who is well known for her marathon skills and plans to compete in April at the Boston Marathon, credited Crossfit with making her a better runner. She and she encouraged other women to try it.
“You will never regret it and you will be a great group of friends interested in exercise for life,” he said.
Regarding this weekend’s competition, the first for MacPherson, he said he really enjoyed the fact that no matter what club you came from or who you were competing against, everyone supported and cheered each other on.
In all, six SaskPro members competed, including 13-year-old Anthony Luciano, who competed in the men’s open division.
Pure Athetics was also represented in the Masters category with Ginelle Olsen and Noreen Reed. Taylor Olsen was also at the event.
