The emotional moment after Meghan Markle saying prince harry she was experiencing suicidal thoughts has been captured in a resurfaced video, showing the prince’s visible “desperation” as he attended a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall.
In March 2021, the Duchess of Sussex revealed in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey who had contemplated suicide while working as a senior member of the royal family.
During the interview, Meghan opened up about telling her husband that she was having suicidal thoughts, just hours before a Cirque du Soleil performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in January 2019.
“One of the things that still haunts me is this photograph that someone had sent me, we had to go to an official event at the Royal Albert Hall,” she reminded Winfrey. “A friend said, ‘I know you don’t look at the pictures, but oh my gosh, they look so good,’ and he sent it to me.”
Meghan went on to say that she “zoomed in and what I saw was the truth of what that moment was like. Because just before we had to leave for that, she had just had that conversation with Harry that morning,” referencing how she told Harry that she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” shortly before attending the event.
Two months after the interview, Prince Harry opened up about the night Meghan first told him she had thought about ending her life, while she was six months pregnant with Archie at the time. Speaking with Oprah Winfrey on her Apple TV+ docuseries, The me you can’t seePrince Harry recalled a photograph of the couple shaking hands as they entered the historic building in London.
“What people may not understand is that, earlier that night, Meghan decided to share with me the suicidal thoughts and the practicalities of how she was going to end her life,” he said.
He continued, “The scariest thing for her was her clarity of thought. She hadn’t lost her temper, she wasn’t crazy, she wasn’t self-medicating, either with pills or alcohol. She was absolutely sober. She was completely sane, but in the still of the night these thoughts of hers woke her up.”
“What stopped her from moving on was how unfair it would be to me after everything that had happened to my mother and now to be in the position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside her, our baby.” he added, before admitting he felt “somewhat embarrassed” by the way he reacted to his wife’s suicidal thoughts.
“Because of the system we were in and the responsibilities and duties we had, we quickly embraced each other. And then we had to change and get into a police escorted convoy and drive to the Royal Albert Hall for a charity event and then go out into a wall of cameras and pretend everything was fine,” she explained.
Now, video taken during the performance at the Royal Albert Hall shows people pointing to the “despair” on Prince Harry’s face, knowing what had transpired just hours before.
the risen video it shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seated in a box in the performance hall. The two applaud, as Meghan smiles at the crowd. Meanwhile, Harry’s expression is noticeably grim and serious. He grabs Meghan’s hand and looks up at the ceiling as she lets out a breath.
“The moment a heavily pregnant Meghan tells Harry she doesn’t want to be alive anymore,” they wrote in the video. “Harry looks up into the air, desperate to find a way out because he’s terrified that history will repeat itself.”
The clip, which was shared by the TikTok user. @yeternal5, it has over 1.5 million views since it was posted on November 16. Many people in the comments section criticized Meghan for smiling in the video, but fans quickly came to her defense, pointing out that the Duchess was putting on a brave face.

“It’s called putting on a brave face,” another person wrote. “She is there fulfilling a duty.”
“Of course he’s smiling at the way they make the news headlines,” someone else said. “She didn’t want anyone to think something was up.”
in a recent episode from his podcast, archetypesMeghan Markle revealed that she has been “conditioned” not to show emotion in public.
“Even my own version of… I’d love to cry so much, but I’m conditioned to have a little bit of it, a different kind of composure,” she told podcast guest Constance Wu. “And now you’re like, ohhh, just relax and let it out. And I see the same thing in my kids that you talk about in yours, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I want to do that.’ [release her emotions without fear or shame]. I want to feel so deeply. It’s like an Adele album. As well as a lot of intense emotion.”
