Amid growing awareness of mental health issues that can affect workers, the General Secretary of the All India Railway Federation (AIRF), Shiva Gopal Mishra, said on Thursday that a toll-free number and app would be launched soon. to address the mental health issues of railway employees. . In particular, the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF), the largest railway association for national carrier employees, on Thursday identified 125 first responders across the country who will be the contact persons at zonal railways for those employees who want to talk about mental stress. , according to the news agency ITP report.

In addition, the union also held a ‘Wellness’ seminar on employee mental health on Thursday and these responders have representatives from railway operating staff, members of the International Transport Forum and AIRF Conveners, among others, according to the report. “For this, a toll-free number will also be launched soon, through which we will also be able to directly advise employees and their families. Soon, we will print posters and other awareness material. Today, when a railway employee goes to work, he leaves with great joy, but when he comes back he is still irritable, so it may be because of the work schedule or problems in the workplace,” Mishra said during the seminar.

He also said that when the railway employees continued to work during the coronavirus pandemic, his whole family used to be upset, anticipating bad news every day, noting that, “in such a situation, not only the railway employees but the whole family used to live under stress. There have been incidents like suicide in many places. This is why the AIRF has decided that we will now also work on employee mental health.”

Meanwhile, railway board chairman VK Tripathi said that while medicine is fine, it is important for railway workers to consider the causes of stress, adding: “I think the job of a railway employee is very sensitive, so so if you remain under any kind of stress, it will definitely affect your work. We should also consider eliminating the causes of stress in advance, so yoga and meditation should also be adopted.”
