Researchers may have discovered how much exercise it takes to offset a day of sitting

Daily exercise is important, but many of us spend most of our days sitting in our office chairs, working on computers. If you’re one of the millions of people who spend too much time at their desks, you can make up for that sedentary lifestyle. In fact, scientists have now discovered exactly how much exercise you need to get each day to make up for a full day of sitting.

According to new research on daily exercise, researchers say you’ll need to do at least 30-40 minutes of exercise to sweat each day if you want to balance 10 hours of sitting still. Plus, even standing can help offset the damage done to your body from sitting all day.

The research is based on data collected from a meta-analysis study in 2020 that reviewed nine previous studies. Those studies included more than 44,000 people from four different countries who wore some form of fitness tracker. From here, the analysis found that daily exercise reduced the risk of death among people with sedentary lifestyles.

Based on this data, it seems that people who spend a large part of their day in the office should invest in something like a standing desk or try to engage in fairly vigorous daily exercise. And this isn’t even being done to help fuel weight loss. This is just to help offset the damage done to our bodies from sitting for long hours every day.

Of course, more research on this matter is definitely expected, and researchers are already looking for ways to create benefits of exercise in a pill, we were also able to see other data on this type of thing.
