Food company Unisnacks Europe Limited is recalling one of its products, which is sold in Sainsbury’s stores in the UK.
The item is the Lotte Pepero Snowy Almond. It is recovering because it contains peanuts and sesame which are not mentioned on the label.
This means that the product is a potential health risk for anyone allergic to peanuts or sesame.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) added that “this allergy alert has been updated to include an additional allergen, sesame.”

FSA always lists the latest food recalls on its website, explaining to customers why an item is being recalled, what to do if they’ve purchased it, and what steps the company or supermarket is taking.
Lotte Pepero Snowy Almond, which is a biscuit, comes in a 32g pack and has expiration dates of May 1, 2023 and May 2, 2023.
The product is a cookie stick covered in chocolate and crushed almonds.
It comes in two versions: a milk chocolate and a white chocolate, but only the “snow” white chocolate is affected.

The FSA said: “Unisnacks Europe Limited is recalling the old product from customers and will be contacting the relevant allergy support organisations, who will inform their members of the recall.
“The company has also issued a point of sale notice to its customers.
“This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they purchased the product. Please see the attached notice.”
In their notice, Unisnacks Europe noted: “We are recalling Lotte Pepero Snowy Almond 32g due to peanut and sesame allergen not mentioned in the ingredient list.”
The company added: “If you have purchased Pepero Snowy Almond as detailed above, and have an allergy, intolerance, sensitivity to peanuts and sesame, do not eat it.
“Instead: check if you bought the affected expiry date of the Pepero Snowy Almond 32g.
“You can do this by taking a photo of this notice or writing the expiration date for reference at home.
“Return products to store for a full refund (with or without receipt).”
The FSA’s advice to customers was as follows: “If you bought the above product and are allergic to peanuts or sesame, don’t eat it.
“Instead, please return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. For more information, please contact Unisnacks Europe Limited on 0800 195 6438 or [email protected].”
The organization elaborated on food recalls in general, saying: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it shouldn’t be sold. Then it could be ‘recalled’ (removed from shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“Sometimes foods must be recalled or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy label is missing or incorrect, or if there is some other risk of food allergy. When there is a risk of food allergy, the FSA will issue an alert allergy.”
