Located in the back of the corporate office space, a new business that hopes to offer a place to help people with mental health has been open in East Salina since June.
Founder and owner Ben Lee said Myne, Body and Soul is the first mental health gym in Kansas and he hopes it can not only help people deal with the stresses of life, but also allow them to be more open about that stress and other aspects of your mental health.
“(This) is here to give the community another resource when it comes to mental health,” Lee said.
Lee said that while the concept of the gym began with the idea of helping to deal with stress, anxiety and depression, he believes that the use of various equipment in the gym, including 4-D massage chairs, therapy saunas of dry salt and vibroacoustic beds, can be extended to other areas of mental health.

A place to bring positivity and tranquility to people and the community.
The gym’s name is inspired by Lee’s wife, Jazzmyne, who committed suicide in August 2021 and was a huge inspiration for the gym’s creation here in Salina. While his son was in the hospital, he saw a mental health gym on television and began to do more research on what the concept was.
“(I thought) what if Jazzmyne had…a place like that that he could have gone to help create calm within you?” Lee said. “I really feel like this place is good at it. It creates a really good point of calm.”
Lee said that while Myne, Body and Soul offers that potential starting point, it’s up to the individual what to do after leaving the gym.
“We can’t control them, but I strongly believe that (you can) really build a good base,” Lee said.
From what Lee has seen, people walk away with that positivity.
“Most people smile when they go out,” Lee said.
Not only can this foundation benefit the people who go to the gym, but it can also offer more positivity in the community. The gym is located in the Woodland Corporate Center at 1410 E. Iron Ave. Lee offered a hypothesis that someone would walk out of the gym and perhaps stop at Casey’s down the street.
“(Maybe) his interaction with that employee was positive…there’s a lot of good in that,” Lee said. “That (attitude) could be transmitted to the next person they interact with. That’s a ripple effect.”

How does the gym work?
Session costs at Myne, Body and Soul are time based, with a fee of $1 per minute starting at 30 minute sessions. However, as the gym is starting, Lee said she is offering $10 off a session.
The gym offers three rooms to use, each of which has the same three pieces of equipment and clients are free to use all of them.
While a 30-minute session is plenty of time to wear one of these pieces, Erin Kerby, the gym coordinator, said to book an hour-long session to get the most out of the gym and be able to use all of the equipment.
“The way I see it, if you do 20 minutes in the (massage) chair, 10 minutes in the (vibroacoustic) bed, and 30 minutes in that sauna, you’ll get the full effect,” Kerby said.
Being the coordinator, Kerby is also the one who often shows people how each of the teams works and is very knowledgeable about them.
When is Myne, Body and Soul open?
While Myne, Body and Soul has listed hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Lee said this is really for walk-ins, and he encourages people to call 785-515-2212 to book sessions. during this time and possibly for schedules. outside of listed hours.
Finally, for people who aren’t sure if the gym might be the thing for them, Lee and Kerby said to come and give it a try anyway.
“It’s really hard to explain what these things can do for you unless you try them,” Kerby said.
For people interested in trying it out for themselves, Lee said the gym also recently became part of the Choose Saline County app, and is one of the places people can redeem stars collected through the business loyalty program. local.
