sam fender has canceled a selection of his upcoming tour dates, citing the need to take care of his mental health.

“It seems completely hypocritical of me to defend the mental health debate and write songs about it if I don’t take the time to take care of my own mental health,” Fender wrote on Instagram.

In the post, the musician said that he has “neglected me for over a year and haven’t dealt with things that have affected me deeply,” and that “my friends and colleagues have been worried about me for a while and it’s not going to happen.” get better unless I take the time to do it.”

He added: “The boys and I are exhausted and we need this time.”

Fender has canceled its next three headlining shows in the US and will also pull out of shows with Florence + the Machine and the Life Is Beautiful festival. He has also canceled his previously rescheduled UK record store dates, though added that he plans to “work something out” for ticket holders.

He added: “I am eternally overwhelmed by the love and support of our fans and I hate to disappoint them, but the state of my wellness is starting to affect everything I do, including my performances… I refuse to go out there and not give it my all EVERY time, anymore. that all of you deserve no less.”

The musician promised to give his Australian shows in November and “everything that comes in 2023”.

Closing his statement, Fender wrote: “I cannot express how grateful we are to have such an incredible fan base. I’ve met some of you over the years and those encounters have really restored my faith in humanity, you all sound like crap.”
