What is Hyperbaric Surgery?

It is an oxygen therapy that provides high concentrations of oxygen. According to Healthline, hyperbaric therapy is administered under high air pressure, as it helps the body take in oxygen. This therapy is usually prescribed when someone is recovering from illness and the air is 100 percent pure oxygen, as the normal air we inhale is only 21 percent oxygen. The air pressure helps the lungs to take in pure O2. Therefore, our body tissues receive more oxygen improving the recovery process.

Why did Samantha undergo hyperbaric therapy?

Inclusion body myositis: Causes pain in the muscles of the thighs, knees, forearms. One might experience pain while swallowing as well.

Myositis has no particular known cause or symptoms. This autoimmune condition affects the muscles and there is still ongoing research to understand the true cause behind it.
