Lucknow: For the first time in uttar pradeshhe Endocrine Surgery Department of the Sanjay Gandhi Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) has conducted robotic surgery to remove 10 cm thyroid tumor.

According to the SGPGIMS spokesperson, a 39-year-old married woman, a resident of Barabanki, had a thyroid lump in her neck, which had been increasing continuously since she consulted the Barabanki doctors.

After the examination, the doctors told her that due to her size and complications, her surgery is not possible without making an incision in her neck. She was uncomfortable and disappointed by the incision marks after the surgery.

She was then referred to Robotic Thyroid Surgeon Dr. Gyan Chand of SGPGI Lucknow to perform surgery without incision in the throat. Dr. Gyan, after the necessary tests, said that the tumor could be removed by robotic surgery without making an incision in the throat and that this will be the first case in itself.

Dr. Gyan successfully removed the tumor from his thyroid gland in a four-hour operation without making a throat incision. After the successful surgery, Dr. Gyan Chand said that the whole process of removing such a large thyroid gland by robotic thyroid surgery is very complicated, but it is scarless surgery and gives relief to the patient.
