  1. Ayurveda does not recommend consumption of curd at night as it causes mucus formation. Since curd has both sweet and sour qualities, eating it at night can cause mucus in the nasal passages.
  2. People suffering from gout should not consume curd daily. Yogurt is a sour food, and sour foods are associated with increased joint pain.
  3. People who have a weak digestive system should avoid eating curd at night. If you suffer from frequent acidity, indigestion or acid reflux, you should avoid eating yogurt when your digestion is slow, which is usually at night.
  4. Lactose intolerant individuals can digest yogurt but not milk. However, you should limit your yogurt intake. Leave gaps while eating curd.
  5. Due to its mucus-promoting properties, people suffering from asthma, cough and cold and other respiratory diseases should avoid eating curd at night. Consume yogurt during the day or preferably in the afternoon.
  6. Yogurt can be too heavy for some people, causing constipation. This problem only occurs with excessive consumption.
