What is PTSD?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition. The biggest reason for this is some big and terrible incident happened in life, due to which you or your close ones are in danger. When a person is unable to forget that incident even after a million attempts and goes into flashback again and again, it has a bad effect on mental health. If things are missed, then they start affecting the daily tasks as well. It has nothing to do with age. It can happen to a person of any age and gender. PTSD is caused by chemical and neurologic changes in the brain after a traumatic or traumatic event.

PTSD can be caused due to a natural disaster, attack, war, serious accident having a deep effect on the mind. The part of our brain that plays an important role in the experience of memories and emotions is called the hippocampus. The hippocampus of people with PTSD is smaller than normal. This has been revealed in a study conducted in the year 2008, although it is not yet clear whether the size of the hippocampus is smaller than before or it happens after the accident.
