Summer allergy: There is no good season to be free of incessant sneezing and coughing. From early spring to late summer, pollen-based allergies generally remain irritating people’s eyes, nose, and throat. They come without warning, if you don’t pay attention, anywhere, anytime. It is also known as allergic rhinitis which can occur in a particular season. The one that causes most allergies during the summer is hay fever. Hay fever is defined as an overreaction of the immune system to pollen in the air. According to WebMD, trees, grass, and weeds fill with pollen in late spring, however, the latter triggers allergies.

Hay fever gets its name from the hay cutting season. Historically, this activity occurred in the summer months, around the same time that many people were experiencing symptoms.

Allergy symptoms are not that difficult to understand:

  • incessant sneezing

  • runny nose
  • Crying eyes
  • Itchy eyes and nose

These could be headaches, wheezing, shortness of breath, etc.

  1. Understand the triggers and try to stay away from them.
  2. Wash your bedding at least once a week
  3. Get rid of surfaces with mold formations.
  4. Keep doors and windows closed
  5. Wear a mask when you go outside, especially on breezy days.
  6. Take off any clothes you’ve worn outside and take a shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair.
  7. If the symptoms are too severe, get checked out by a doctor.

  • Onion
  • flax seeds
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Tea

Taking proper precautions and being mindful of your body is the key to maintaining a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. For people who are more susceptible to allergies, they should consult and understand their allergy triggers and take appropriate precautions. While it is not definitively proven that foods can cure allergies, they definitely help strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of such overreactions in the body.
