Symptoms of COVID-19 have gone over time, know how

Covid Symptoms: There has been a lot of difference in its symptoms since the time the corona virus started. With time, its effect also diminished and now its symptoms have also started changing. People have started adopting it with time. The second wave caused more destruction in India than the first wave of Corona, in which lakhs of people lost their lives. But with Omicron, illnesses took a mild turn. However, the corona vaccine also had a great impact on it. Recently a study was done in which it was tried to find out which symptoms of corona have changed.

Going to the test and not smelling is no longer a symptom of corona

Earlier this year, a study conducted on 17,500 patients in the United Kingdom found that loss of taste and smell was no longer a major symptom of COVID-19. In addition, fewer people reported high fever, shortness of breath and loss of taste with the Omicron variants compared to the alpha and delta variants. Whereas in the early days of the epidemic, one of the main symptoms is the symptom of lack of smell.

What are the symptoms of covid at present?

What was the study?

This included participants who tested positive between June 1 and November 27, 2021 (when the Delta variant was at its peak) and between December 20, 2021, and January 17, 2022 (when the Omicron variant was at its peak). In all, they collected 62,002 positive samples from which the symptoms were studied. In addition, the study also showed that Omicron is very unlikely to affect the lower respiratory tract, where the virus causes more damage.

Upper respiratory infection and lower respiratory infection

Scientists are yet to find an answer as to why there has been a change in the symptoms experienced by COVID patients. Many have attributed this to different variants. As compared to the Delta variant, which attacks the lower respiratory tract, Omicron thrives on the upper respiratory tract. This is why people infected with Delta had more severe symptoms such as pneumonia, while Omicron patients often have symptoms similar to those of the common cold.
