In a recent development, the state health department has allowed the general public to file complaints for damaged and non-functional devices.

People can call 8888526666 or log on to https://emmstelangana.uat.dcservices.in/ to flag an issue and it will be taken up on priority. “Anyone can flag a problem and any hospital equipment worth more than Rs 5 lakh will be taken up for repair. It could be a ECG machine, ultrasound or MRI Machine or any other equipment, the value of which exceeds 5 lakhs. The time for repairs will be as per the standard timeline required for each piece of equipment,” said a senior health department official.

The move is aimed at reducing procedural delays in repairing critical equipment as CT and MRI machines often lie unused for months at a time due to pending maintenance issues.

For the first time in the state, a policy for maintenance has been made by the health department Medical Equipment ‘Bio Medical Equipment Maintenance’. Officials revealed that a special Program Monitoring Unit (PMU) has been set up at the Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) to maintain the equipment from time to time.

“All details of medical devices are registered on the web portal. Any damage to medical devices worth more than 5 lakh can be reported immediately by a doctor, patient or other member of the public, earlier when it had to go through proper channels,” the official added.
