The Ceredigion walks which can help improve your mental health

Keep Wales Safe have listed ten specific walks in Ceredigion that can help people’s mental health, in a bid to get people out of the house and enjoying walking in 2022.

Described as “a walker’s paradise”, Ceredigion is the ideal county for people to engage in outdoor exercise and benefit from the mental and physical health impacts.

As walking outdoors helps release stress hormones and increases endorphins, Keep Wales Safe, in conjunction with the DPJ Foundation, urges people to improve their mental health by enjoying some of Ceredigion’s scenic walks, which include:

  • aberporth
  • New wharf at Cwmtydu
  • Llanerchaeron, Aberaeron
  • Aberystwyth seafront
  • Ynyslas Beach, Borth
  • Hafod Knight’s Walk
  • Cors Caron promenade
  • Devil’s Bridge circular walk
  • The arc
  • Llangrannog towards Ynys Lochtyn

Dr. Kerry Donovan, head of psychology and psychological therapies at the Hywel Dda University Board of Health, said:

“Eating healthy, exercising regularly, maintaining regular sleep patterns, establishing a good structure for our days, and engaging in relaxing activities are always important in promoting health and well-being.

“If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or feel the need for additional support, ask for help. These services are still available and we are here to help.”
