The Chase: Mark Labbett prepares to take on a new team

The Chase’s Mark Labbett returned to the ITV show on Wednesday night’s episode after storming off set when his opposition took home a £21,000 top prize last week.

The Beast congratulated the contestants on their victory before leaving the studio and hitting the wall on the way outbut it led to Twitter after the episode to address his response and said that his mental health was “shot” at the time of the recording.

Bradley Walsh hosted another episode of the popular itv question-and-answer show on Wednesday, where contestants took on The Chaser in hopes of walking away with their share of a big cash prize.

When The Beast emerged from the tunnel to confront Melanie’s team, James, Eirlys and Jeff, host Bradley did not directly address the incident, but described Mark as a “bad boy”.

Bradley said: “As heroes, he is less David Crockett, more hash brown. The face says everything. The bad boy himself. Mark Labett.

Bradley said: “The face says it all. The bad boy himself. Mark Labett.

After the wall-banging incident, Bradley immediately apologized for Mark’s behavior on the ITV show, telling viewers that this is not how people should deal with defeat.

When the game was over and Mark couldn’t catch the team, he said, “Well played guys, you deserve it, I’m out.”

Looking shocked, Bradley said: “I apologize to all the kids watching. This is not how you should take defeat. You should take it magnanimously and humbly.”

Mark took to Twitter to issue an apology, writing: “Apologies to those of you disappointed in my behavior tonight. My mental health skyrocketed before that game, it was a storm or he burst into tears. A ruthless diet of quality opponents didn’t help #thechase.”

His fellow hunter, Paul Sinha, known as The Sinnerman on the show, sent his friend his support.

Paul responded: “You should never have to apologize for the crime of ‘being human’. I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere with those questions.”

Chase fans also took to social media to express their support for Mark after his outspoken admission and apology.

One viewer applauded her statement saying, “Mental health is the most difficult thing for any individual to control. You were an excellent teacher and you are a great contestant and TV personality. We all have bad days, cheer up, friend. You’ll get through it and come out stronger.”

Another said he didn’t need to apologize, writing, “You don’t need to apologize for being human and experiencing emotions. In my 24 years of living, that’s all I’ve ever done, and it doesn’t make it any better, it just makes you feel more guilty. Thanks for acknowledging it, but don’t apologize.”

A third commented: “You were kind and courteous to the team and their success then reacted angrily to yourself and that’s fine. It’s when the chaser is rude or short with the team that bothers me, but you didn’t do that.”
