Actually, after pineapple, a strange kind of tingling starts in the tongue. Tingling in the tongue on eating pineapple is due to an enzyme called bromelain. This enzyme interacts with your tongue and releases an alkaline element in the flesh of the tongue, which makes the tongue slightly unstable. This causes a twitching or tingling sensation in the tongue.

Due to this enzyme, some people may feel itching or burning of the tongue after eating pineapple. But this problem does not occur in most people and it gets cured by itself after some time. If the twitching of the tongue does not stop and is not tolerated, then it would be wise to consult your doctor about it.

How to consume

Some experts say that before eating pineapple, cut it and soak it in salt and water. Doing so deactivates the bromelain enzyme.
